Tour de Bentbrook Ct.

Logan and Nathan had their yearly checkups today. Logan's stats- weight: 25lbs, height: 33in. Nathan's stats- weight:29.5 lbs, height: 38in. Logan got 2 shots and Nathan got 1. They weren't very happy about that. Then came another surprise...a blood draw! Their pedi schedules a blood draw at their 1 year checkup to check for anemia and lead. Poor Nathan didn't get that done at his 1 yr so the pedi suggested we go ahead and do it today. Logan went first and Nathan could hear his poor little cry from the waiting room. When I came out with Logan, I handed him off to Daddy and turned to get Nathan. I found him pulling at the doorknob saying "I wanna go home now". Smart kid, he knew it was his turn! Well, they made it through. While we were at the Dr's office, we went ahead and got Nathan a toddler bicycle helmet. It's a cool blue color with spiders on the top. He loves it, but I think it may just give me nightmares about spiders! lol. Here are a few pics of him cruising the circle on his bike. He rides like a pro!!!

Nathan,
You are 3 years old today. So much has happened over the last year. You became a big brother. You started preschool. You learned to talk, run, even ride a bike. You are growing so fast. To think, just a few years ago, I didn’t even know you would be here and now I can’t imagine my life without you. You don’t even realize that I go through my day anxiously anticipating your stories and songs. I waited so long to hear that little voice and it is more perfect than I could have ever imagined. You say so many interesting and funny things. Even hearing you say your bedtime prayer brings tears to my eyes. Is this my little boy sounding so grown up? How could this be? My heart melts every time you say “I love you too, mama”. It truly is the best sound in the world. My little boy, so grown up, doing things “all by myself”. You have changed my life in so many ways. The complete joy and happiness I feel watching you play and hearing you talk is more incredible than anything else on this earth. I know that soon you will be doing many more things by yourself, but always know that I will be right there with you. I will be watching you grow, worrying about you, teaching you, and loving you…with all of my heart. I have no idea what the next year will bring for our family, but I look forward to every new day with you. I love you, my little boy.

Logan,
My little baby. One year ago today you came into this world, so perfect, so wonderful. I thought I already knew how amazing it was to be a mother, but then you were born and once again I’m reminded that the most precious role I have in life is caring for yet another blessing that God has given me. Over the last year I’ve watched you grow from a newborn baby to an active toddler. Learning the most basic parts of life…to smile, laugh, crawl, and play. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t look at you and lose my breath at the remarkable little person you’ve become. Even while you sleep, I fight the urge to stand over you and watch you. It may seem like a small priority to others in such a busy world, but for me it is the most amazing sight on earth. You are becoming more independent day by day, but you need me all the same. As you play, you turn to me to watch me clap and cheer at every new discovery and milestone. You don’t even know right now that I will ALWAYS be behind you, clapping and cheering, your biggest fan for the rest of your life. I will always be there to remind you that you can reach any goal you set for yourself. You are such a amazing little person and my heart is so full of love for you that I can feel it every minute of the day. Even after a year, tears of joy fill my eyes whenever I just think of you. You are my world, my life, my soul...my baby. I love you.

The St. Louis Arch

This was Nathan and Logan's first trip to the St. Louis Arch. We rode the tram to the top and Nathan was a little overwhelmed looking down on all of the tiny cars and people. It was too funny how he "froze up" when he was looking out. When he was done, he stayed still like a statue and said "mine ready to get down". I don't think Logan even knew we left the ground. lol.

A visit to Grandma Betty's farm

We took Nathan and Logan to the farm for a visit with Grandma Betty. It was Logan's first time there and he really LOVED the wide open space. Of course, they BOTH loved the 4 wheeler. We were a little concerned about the long drive, but they slept most of the way so it worked out great. They really enjoyed all of the wonderful things to see in Grandma Betty's house.

Grandma Betty gave Nathan a great pop-up book...

Umm, I don't think so!!

Logan hates the grass!

Logan definately LOVES the outdoors...as long as he doesn't have to sit in the grass. He even does his best Yoga moves to avoid touching it!...
